Rødovre Concert Band - sunshine above Copenhagen

Rødovre Concert Band - sunshine above Copenhagen

Rødovre Concert Band
Conductor: Klaus Tönshoff

Denmark’s largest concert band, the Danish Concert Band, once again takes the stage in Tivoli Concert Hall – this time with an undivided tribute to Denmark and Danish music.

The programme features ballet music of vibrant energy by Fini Henriques, and what is perhaps Carl Nielsen’s proudest concerto, performed with Danish flute soloist. It also includes a world premiere by the Danish-Japanese composer Miho Hazama, Chief Conductor of the DR Big Band – a striking new suite at the crossroads of jazz and virtuosic concert band writing.

Axel Frederiksen’s iconic Copenhagen March marks its 90th anniversary, and on this occasion “Sunshine Over Copenhagen” presents familiar melodies reimagined by David Palmquist in a fresh and charming perspective that also reflects the modern character of the city.

The concert is conducted and presented by the orchestra’s conductor and Artistic Director, Klaus Tönshoff.
