Christina von Bülow

Inspirator of the Year – Christina von Bülow
Christina von Bülow receives the Inspirator of the Year award for her deeply emotional, heartfelt, and imaginative music and performance style. She brings music to life in a way that transcends time. With outstanding virtuosity and a profound understanding of music, she effortlessly lets colours and moods reach the listener. Her music is the result of deep love and intuition, touching and inspiring both audiences and fellow musicians. Christina has made a significant mark on the jazz world, especially at a time when women were underrepresented in jazz, and when it was even more difficult to be a female musician than it is today. She thus stands as a strong role model for the next generations of female musicians.

Ole 'Fessor' Lindgreen

Inspirator of the Year – Ole 'Fessor' Lindgreen
Ole 'Fessor' Lindgreen is honoured for his lifelong and deep love of jazz and its essence. For decades, Fessor has played music at the highest level without compromising his popular appeal, always with an undiminished desire to immerse himself in and improve his craft. He has generously shared his wisdom and joy with all who are passionate about jazz, and he continues to build bridges between generations with an open mind toward all musical currents, both conventional and unconventional.
Fessor has played with countless jazz masters and has diligently passed on the knowledge he has gained through his many ensembles and his rich experience as a bandleader. Beyond his musical work, Fessor is a trusted confidant whom many seek out for advice. He always meets them with encouraging words of wisdom and heartfelt counsel that could only come from someone who has seen and experienced almost everything.

Anne Efternøler

Innovator of the Year – Anne Efternøler
Anne is a rare, empathetic, and likeable presence on the Danish jazz scene. Her constant eagerness to bring jazz to the public, often in alternative setups, is exemplary — such as when Anne presents her band with a trumpet and three double basses! Many instrumentations can seem identical, resulting in a relatively generic soundscape regardless of subgenre within jazz. Anne breaks this up with her creative and curious approach to instrumentation and arrangements. Innovation does not necessarily have to be dedicated to young people but can just as well aim at groundbreaking formats or ideas, and it is this perspective that we celebrate Anne for.

Jon Albjerg

Communicator of the Year – Jon Albjerg
Jon possesses an enormous knowledge of niche music in the broadest sense. In addition, he has a deep understanding of jazz and how it reflects and communicates its contemporary culture and society. Jon has a rare direct and humorous approach to the written word. Many music journalists are unable, as Jon is, to bring humour into serious and knowledgeable music criticism, but Jon does so to such a degree that one is enlightened by his critique while involuntarily smiling. Furthermore, his ability to draw references and analogies to other phenomena and/or genres is always a delight to encounter in his writing.

Benita Haastrup

Children’s Jazz Award – Benita Haastrup
With a rare passion, this year’s Children’s Jazz Award recipient delivers all her music at eye level, regardless of the audience’s age, size, or composition. Her performances are characterised by presence, high-level musicianship, and an intuitive understanding of the environment she is performing in. In fact, Benita Haastrup has redefined the entire concept of “children’s concerts” with her deep understanding of narrative and the importance of interaction.
With projects such as DrumDrum and Music for Bees, Benita Haastrup reaches audiences around the world with her musical creations. Benita is living proof of what pure passion can achieve.

Erik von Spreckelsen

The René Daugaard Grant – Erik von Spreckelsen
Erik von Spreckelsen is one of Denmark’s leading jazz pianists, recognised for his in-depth exploration of improvised jazz. He expresses himself with virtuosity and taste on the instrument, the result of a lifelong commitment to refining his craft. Erik’s open musical approach makes him a sought-after collaborator, and his ability to bridge generations is remarkable. Erik is a composer, producer, and educator, but on this occasion, it is his unique talent as a jazz pianist that we spotlight.
