Exotica: Jensen/Skov/Urd/Andersen

The new quartet Jensen/Skov/Urd/Andersen explores the Exotica genre in a fresh musical setting

Exotica is a new collaboration between Tivoli Gardens’ kapelmester Peter Jensen and vibraphonist Carsten Skov, drawing inspiration from Exotica and related genres such as surf, noir and lounge. Quentin Tarantino is one of the genre’s most prominent ambassadors, using tracks from obscure Exotica vinyls for some of his most memorable film scores. 
The quartet performs their own interpretations of Exotica‑inspired themes alongside newly written compositions, all approached with an open and improvisational interplay between the musicians.

As part of Jazzy Wednesday, Tivoli Gardens invites Danish jazz musicians to meet in new constellations created especially for the occasion. The musicians take part in a short artist‑in‑residence format, allowing them to explore new musical expressions across several concerts. 

You can enjoy the sound of jazz on Wednesdays from May to August on Tivoli Gardens’ outdoor stage, the Orangery.
