Sinne Eeg & Tivoli Big Band

Sinne Eeg & Tivoli Big Band
Tivoli Big Band and Sinne Eeg pay tribute to Tivoli Gardens’ rich jazz heritage. On this evening at the Open-Air Stage, they spotlight three of jazz’s greatest icons, who performed regularly on Tivoli’s stages during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.
Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald visited Tivoli Gardens numerous times over those three decades, and another of jazz’s legendary voices, Sarah Vaughan, recorded her personal masterpiece Sassy Swings the Tivoli in 1963 – with none other than Quincy Jones as producer.
Sinne Eeg and Tivoli Big Band delve into the rich repertoire of Ella Fitzgerald’s album Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Duke Ellington Song Book. They also revive a selection of titles from Sassy Swings the Tivoli in newly written big band arrangements by Tivoli Gardens’ Grammy-nominated musical director and resident arranger Peter Jensen, inspired by how Quincy Jones might have arranged them.
The concert is presented as part of the Copenhagen Jazz Festival.
