Albertslund Symfoniorkester is one of Denmark's finest youth symphony orchestras. Since its debut at the 2000 New Year's concert, the orchestra has grown into a vital part of the country's musical landscape and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. It comprises approximately 50 musicians, including students, adult learners, and teachers, and operates under the auspices of the Albertslund Music School.
Under the direction of conductor Erik Jakobsson, who has led the orchestra since 2005, Albertslund Symfoniorkester has performed major symphonic works by composers such as Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Stravinsky. In recent years, several students from the orchestra have appeared as soloists, reflecting the strong ties between the ensemble and the Albertslund Music School.

A trained violinist, Erik Jakobsson has played for many years in ensembles such as the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Danish Orchestra. Following conducting studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where he debuted in 2009, he has conducted numerous orchestras in Denmark and Sweden. He has also served as an assistant conductor and répétiteur at the Royal Danish Theatre. Since 2017, he has held the position of organist and concert organiser at Sundby Church on Amager.
