New Year’s Eve at Tivoli

For the first time ever, Tivoli opens the gates for everyone on this very last day of the year. The rides, games and shops are open from 11:00. At 22:00 Tivoli’s New Year’s Fireworks are launched. Visitors in Tivoli’s restaurants are welcome to stay until half past midnight.

There is a special atmosphere in the Danish capital at Christmas time with lots and lots of lights to brighten the long winter nights (it will be dark from 15:30 to 08:30). The hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations is followed by a few quiet days of family time (24 and 25 December), but then the city comes to life again. New films premiere in cinemas and the winter sales begin in the shops.

Christmas in Tivoli provides a fair bit of the winter wonders of Copenhagen. The historic architecture, the spectacular lights, the snugness of a walk among the many shops and stalls, the wonderful meals and the thrilling rides attract nearly one million visitors from 15 November – 31 December. From 26 – 30 December the nightly fireworks draw crowds of people to Tivoli.

31 December
For the first time ever, Tivoli opens the gates for everyone on this very last day of the year. The 2012 success of opening some of Tivoli’s restaurants on New Year’s Eve sparked the idea of a full scale opening day.  The rides, games and shops are open from 11:00. At 22:00 Tivoli’s New Year’s Fireworks are launched at the same time as Tivoli closes for admission.

Visitors in Tivoli’s restaurants are welcome to stay until half past midnight. Taking a stroll through the gardens you will be able to enjoy the sight and sound of the millions of kroner’s worth of fireworks that Copenhagen citizens launch from the City Hall Square next to Tivoli.

The restaurants are planning special New Year’s Eve menus. Pre-booking is of course preferable, as you are then guaranteed a table. However, all the restaurants take walk-ins subject to availability.

The House of Nimb has a long-standing tradition for fine dining and has been a first mover in Tivoli’s New Year’s celebration. Book at Nimb Brasserie in the elegant Moresque palace also housing Nimb Hotel or try Nimb Terrasse right in the middle of Tivoli with a view of the City Hall.
