The world-renowned dance company Alvin Ailey Dance Theater returns to Denmark and Tivoli with six spectacular performances that as always break down the boundaries between genres and burst with rhythm and an untamed joy of dance.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performs at Tivoli’s Concert Hall from Tuesday August 29^th 2023 to Saturday September 2^nd 2023.

For those interested in dance, Alvin Ailey needs no introduction, but for the uninitiated the African-American dance company would be the ideal introduction to the world of dance.

Alvin Ailey has performed for more than 25 million people in over 70 countries spread over 6 continents. It is the 18^th time the world-famous dance company takes the stage in Tivoli, and it is not without reason that they have had a steadily growing following since its commercial breakthrough in the 1970’s.

The company with a particular focus on diversity transcends conventional genres and styles and fills stadiums and concert halls with life, rhythm, soul and pure dance joy. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater includes everything from classical ballet to modern dance and theater, and they draw on musical inspiration from jazz, church music, blues, spirituals and more. 

This year the company will dance six shows in five days (double show on Saturday September 2^nd ) with two different repertories, so it will be possible for fans to experience two different versions. In Tivoli, Alvin Ailey Dance Theater will perform works such as: Roy's Joys, Pas de Duke/Cry, The River, Dancing Spirit, and the signature piece; Revelations.
