Harlequin and Columbine marry – but Harlequin has promised their son to a woodland troll. In a fight between life and death, Harlequin finally wins back his son, with the assistance of a good fairy.
While this is going on, Columbine's father, Cassander, is running a marriage agency, in which people both rich and poor, fat and thin, can marry one another.
