Celebratory Concert for Michala Petri

Michala Petri is a rare musical talent – a child prodigy, who is often top of mind when you ask people to name a Danish classical musician with an extensively expanded repertoire. A musician who has achieved international fame, and who, with more than 70 CD recordings and 4,000 concerts behind her, should actually be much older, but in 2018, Michala Petri will turn just 60.

The Tivoli Concert Hall

At the tender age of 11, Petri joined the music academy in Hannover, but had already made her solo debut two years before – in the Tivoli Concert Hall. Her first CD recording was in extension of a concert in London with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields at the age of 17.

Throughout her career, Petri has demonstrated constant curiosity and enjoys moving outside the traditional repertoire of the recorder, with countless premiers on her CV, as well as collaborations with musicians from other musical genres. For example, Petri has cooperated with artists as different as Sir Neville Marriner and Keith Jarrett, Gidon Kremer and Bjørn Svin.
